KIMBERLEY DAHME, FORMERLY OF ARENA ROCK BAND BOSTON, TO PERFORM BENEFIT CONCERT FOR MUSIC CITY GREYHOUND ADOPTION
(Nashville, TN) - Enjoy a night of great music and help retired racing greyhounds at the same time. Kimberley Dahme, formerly of arena rock band BOSTON, will be donating 100% of her proceeds from her Tuesday April 4th show at City Winery Nashville to Music City Greyhound Adoption.
Music City Greyhound Adoption is a non-profit organization dedicated to the placement of retired racing greyhounds into loving forever homes in Middle Tennessee, Southern Kentucky, and Northern Alabama. They offer continued support to families after adoption, and educate the public about the suitability of the retired racing greyhound to become a family pet through many different community events.
Along with all of the wonderful work they do on a regular basis to help find loving forever homes for greyhounds, MCGA is currently caring for a sweet greyhound named "Cassie" who was missing for 5 years and recently found living in the woods. Her story is amazing. Some are calling it a miracle that she was able to survive for so long on her own. Although she is now safe, she has a tough battle ahead; Cassie has been diagnosed with a severe case of heart worms and her treatment will be lengthy and expensive. Funds raised from this concert will help pay for Cassie's medical bills and also help MCGA continue their mission of finding loving forever homes for retired racing greyhounds.
"We're excited that Kimberley Dahme wants to help support our organization," said Music City Greyhound Adoption President Liz Trapp. "This is a generous gift, and will go a long way in helping us pay for Cassie's medical expenses, as well as helping us with our everyday operating costs. We are honored, humbled, and grateful for the support."
"I love dogs," says Kimberley, who currently has a great dane, a collie mix, and a hound dog mix -- all of which are rescues. "When I heard Cassie's amazing story of survival, and how her adoption group was trying to raise money for her medical bills, I immediately made some calls to see if we could put together a benefit. My band loved the idea, and City Winery was happy to give us their first available date. Then, after we booked the show, we learned that April is 'National Adopt a Greyhound' month, so it's the perfect time to give back to a group that does so much for these wonderful dogs."
Kimberley Dahme became the first female performer of arena rock band BOSTON in 2002, playing bass with them at the Fiesta Bowl in front of 74,000 people and millions of viewers live on television. In a nod to her songwriting skills, Kimberley's song "With You" was included on BOSTON's Corporate America CD, and she is featured BOSTON's latest album Live, Love, and Hope, taking lead vocals on "If You Were in Love" and "You Gave Up On Love," along with sharing vocals with the late Brad Delp on "Sail Away." She is currently working on her third solo album. Kimberley's music is a mix of classic rock/blues and contemporary country. She writes about true life stories and, while she can "rock" with the best of them, she is not afraid to show her vulnerable side with her tender, heartfelt ballads.
