KICK - THE INXS EXPERIENCE DELIVERS SOLID PERFORMANCES IN CHICAGO AND MILWAUKEE TO BEGIN 2018 TOUR
KICK - The INXS Experience, the USA's most captivating salute and tribute to internationally acclaimed rock band, INXS, launched their 2018 North American tour to enthusiastic crowds at House of Blues Chicago on Friday and Shank Hall in Milwaukee on Saturday.
The standing room only audience in Chicago was treated to a comprehensive 2-hour set, jam-packed with the Australian rockers' biggest hits; "Need You Tonight," "Devil Inside," "New Sensation," "Disappear," and "Suicide Blonde," along with some of the deeper tracks from INXS' extensive catalog, including fan favorites "Stay Young," "To Look At You," "I Send A Message," and "Shine Like It Does." One of the highlights of the evening was a stunning performance of the blockbuster ballad "Never Tear Us Apart" with the capacity crowd singing along to every word. The closing number, "Don't Change," also proved to be a memorable moment with RockStar INXS finalist and much-loved Chicago frontman for the Lovehammers, Marty Casey, joining KICK onstage for the song and praising the band profusely, proclaiming to the packed house, "Next time they come back, I'm gonna be here, because they are f*****g amazing!"
Milwaukee fans also agreed, showering the band's facebook page with accolades:
"Absolutely incredible show last night! Can't wait to see you guys in Milwaukee again!"
"Beyond Expectation. Thank you guys! Come back soon."
"Fab time! You guys are LEGIT. Can't wait to see y'all again!"
"Great time seeing your show last night. Amazing talent!"
"You guys ROCKED Shank Hall!!! Such a good group of guys. You are always welcome in Milwaukee!"
Formed in 2014, two years after INXS stopped touring, KICK - The INXS Experience has beautifully managed to capture the spirit of INXS in both its sound and live performance, bringing the highest level of musicianship to the audience while showing a true passion for the music of INXS. Vocalist, guitarist, and singer-songwriter Cory Massi is the founding frontman of KICK, and has long held a respect and admiration for the late great Michael Hutchence. Massi even auditioned for the reality TV show, Rockstar: INXS in 2004, where contestants competed to become the new lead vocalist for INXS. What convinced him to audition? "I loved Michael's singing and his personality," notes Massi. "I saw INXS when I was a teenager in '88 and '89; they were great, and the people were just gaga over them. Michael left a big impression with his star power; he really had it, that guy. Our range is similar and I just went for it. I had to sing "Mystify" acappella so I was kind of nervous because I didn't have a band behind me. There was a camera a foot away from my face and it was out of my comfort zone; I would probably still feel uncomfortable today. I didn't get the gig: I was probably one of the last people to try out and I think by the time I auditioned they had already made their selection. No excuse: it was a good experience. We include "Mystify" in our set and when I sing it, I have my band with me and we play it with a lot of heart."
With a career spanning 40 extraordinary years and a solid chart history that includes seven Billboard Top 10 hits (# 1 Need You Tonight, # 2 Devil Inside, # 3 New Sensation, # 4 What You Need, # 7 Never Tear Us Apart, # 8 Disappear, and # 9 Suicide Blonde), INXS is undoubtedly one of the world's most successful bands. In the United States alone, they have sold over 15 million albums, making them the third-highest selling Australian music act in the U.S. behind AC/DC and The Bee Gees. Few rock bands have achieved the success and longevity that INXS has enjoyed.
KICK - The INXS Experience resumes their tour later this week, with shows on Thursday 1/18 at Music Box Supper Club in Cleveland, Friday 1/19 Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, PA, and Saturday 1/20 at Infinity Music Hall in Norfolk, CT. (Note: At the time of this writing the 1/19 show at Sellersville Theater was nearly sold out).
